First of all, if you are surprised to see a thread in English, rest assure, I won't make a habit of it posting everywhere in English. (voir 'hors jeux' / poster en neerlandais/anglais).

My question: I read the rules concerning experience several times but it can't make out how the level-upgrade works. I do understand how the 'amelioration' works (I think): I just convert enough PX to PI and choose a 'caractéristique ' to improve.    (I have been told that for a level 1 troll it's better however to first focus on getting 'Déplacement Eclair 'so I'll just do that.)      What I can't figure out is proceeding to a next level. From what I''ve read you need 20 PI to get from level 1 to 2, then 30 PI to get to level 3 and so on... BUT  why move on to a next level if you can spend your hard-earned PX to improve your Troll? I know I'm missing a clear and obvious point here but please be as kind as to tell me what!

Also a second question: So far I only managed to pick up an armure de cuir. I've seen a caillouteux being killed and leaving such armor behind. Since I'd like a weapon as well, can other monsters (like a 'momie') leave something behind too, preferebly a weapon?

Thanks in advance,

Jos.

Hi! little troll...

First of all, i am happy to read your new topic...

for your first question, to move on the next level is only to be proud of your trollJust kidding...

No, in fact, imagine you have 10px. When you do "s entrainer" your 10 px becomes 10pi! And this transformation is use to improve your level, and your pi are use to improve your troll. With an example, it will be easier to understand:

You have 10 px

you do "s entrainer", you have now 0px and 10PI

you earn 10 px more, and you do  " s entrainer"

you have now 0PX, 20PI, and because you have 20 Pi you become level 2  and win a random fly...but you keep your 20 PI

and now you could do " s ameliorer" and use your 20 pi to learn "deplacement eclair" like fabrouche69 told you.(it s always my mind to learn this first)

Is it clear?

For your second answer, every monster deliver money(GG) and an object (that could be also money, but i am not sure about this). But this is a random object! you could have weapon, armor, potion or scroll... there is no difference between the different monster I think, but, you have more chance to find a good magic object on a high level monster...but it is always random...

you could ask to fabrouche69 on which monster he finds his fucking good armor ...it was not a Beholder....

if you have more questions, do not hesitate, or you can also contact me via msn, icq, aim or email...just ask me my user name if you want...

1/ You need to improve your troll fituring (en fonction de ?) your race (kastar, durakuir...)
For example If you are skrim you need take hit dice in first and improve "botte secrete", when you are low level. Each race have skils they need to improve at the begining i think, but youneed to think who you want your troll progress.

2/ what do you want ? A troll who hit hard (weapon), or troll absorb strikes (armor)
If you Tomawak, i think you don't need thit items

Tel us what is the race of your troll..

Trollhyen - pfffiuuuu, effort sur-troll pour moi c'te langue

Hi Jos. I am sorry to be late but I am just wake up and over sleep!

Groquick gave you good explanations for your quetions, you bought deplacement eclair, it's good now you have to improve it quickly. For the monster's drop normaly it's random for the kind of item and after it's depend of the level of the monster. But! sometimes you could be lucky like me, killed a zombie and pick up a " harnois en mythril " defence -2  armor +8   malus time +40minutes,  that's pretty cool!!

To improve your durakuir, you'll have to buy vitality (PV) to have a better "regeneration accru" after try to always have a " DLA " of 12h or less, that depend of your equipment. And work out to have soon a good base for fighting like offense: 5 defence: 5 damage: 6. With that you can figth a lot of  medium monsters.

But I know some durakuir don't care about offense and stay at 3, they just improve defense and damage because with "rafale psychique" you touch every time and it's a spell, with a spell your attack across the armor of your enemy. I think for that it will be better if a durakuir answer you because me i am a kastar.

Just to clarify, about levelling-up:

The gain of a level DOES NOT EPEND whatsoever of your current amount of PIs.
You gain a level each time you TRAINED a certain amount of times.

The rules would be clearer if stating:
- Once you'll have performed the S'ENTRAINER action twice, your troll will grow to level 2.
- Once you'll have performed this action 3 more times, then it'll grow to level 3
- and so on...

So, don't be afraid by spending your PI points. It is recommended to spend them  and yes, the DEPLACEMENT ECLAIR skill is definitively a very good choice.

  Have fun playing MountyHall

You don't "buy" levels.

Your level is updated automatically as you reach the corresponding PI total breakpoint. Unlike many games where you have to spend experience points both to improve your skills and your level, in Mountyhall you only spend experience to improve your skills. Your "level" is a mere indication of the overall power of your troll (ie, the amount of experience you've gained and used to improve your troll).

It makes sense since your "level" isn't used to determine the results of your actions. In other games, a higer "level" means better resistance rolls, better odds of hitting your opponent, etc... In Mountyhall, everything is based on your stats / skills.

Your "level" is only used to determine the amount of xp you'll be rewarded with for a kill, and in some cases which skills / spells you can learn.

Only half an hour after i posted I was provided with a perfectly complete troll's user guide for the first two levels. Thanks Groquick! You were crystal-clear! I didn't know the sole possesion of 20 PI was already enough,  I thought you had to spend them to obtain the level. Thanks for setting that straight. Btw I must say your English is good!  As for the weapons, I'm chasing a mummie right now (the damned thing won't stand still!), I expect him to be decent enough to give me at least a dague    Reminds me, a Troll level 10 or even 15 has got to acquire 100 or 150 PI to move on a level! Wow that's tough...

Corwin: I can understand the French parts as well, but it's just that it takes time to understand, and about FOREVER to write something relevant and on-subject in decent French. I really don't mind if  you say something in French, I think it's just fair if I make an effort as wel.

I did't think yet of what Trollhyene brought up. I'll say it out loud: I'm DURAKUIR and I'm proud!!!  So it's true I don't need extra hitpoints immeadiatlely, contrary to maybe some more attack-power. I appreciate all efforts very much, I know it's hard to write in a language you rarely use.

Farouche, it's important to sleep enough! And by doing so , your DLA seems to pass faster I think I haven't bought the deplacement eclair yet, but when my 'momie' is finished I think I can can get it.   I'll look into the attack-improvement because I think a Durakuir already has a good defence, taking in concern the 4O PV they have. (but I could be wrong.. any durakuir?)

Thanks again to all, if I have another question I'll post it here,

Hope to see you in MH

Jos,hopefully  on the road to grandeur

Ok, one more because we seem to have posted on the same time: I train and train, which gets me PI. If I've got enough PI I can buy a competence or a spell. I don't have to worry about keeping them to gain a level because this happens kind of automatically.

Actually it IS pretty simple !

Durak' Power !

Hi Jos, I'm a proud Durakuir, I can tell my point of view for a good elevation of your Troll. I think Durak is the best overall Troll. Not too bad , not too strong anywhere, simply good everywhere !  :-)

But !, as you must always be on close-contact against your foes, the first thing to improve is your 'esquive'. After that, your amount of 'PV' (it can help for your 'competence' 'regeneration acrue' too) and of course your 'dégats' to hurt ! You 'attaque' is less important thank's to your 'sort' 'Rafale Psychique' that doesnt depend of 'attaque'. You must of course use an use these 2 special capacities to improve them... doing so, you'll improve your 'resistance magique' (RM) and 'maitrise magique' (MM)... it can help too... :-)

It's just MY point of view... other Durak's can tell theirs...

Hope it helped  :-)

LordBilly-Durak Poooooooooooower ! (lvl.

Jos,just few things to be more crystal-clear (i d like this new expression )

A level 10 has won not 100PI but, 20+30+40+50+60+70+80+90+100=540PI...it s awesome, isnt it ?

If the mummie run away, it means it is close from dead! Let s go Jos! keep fighting

I am not a durakuir, but I thing, with a durakuir you could be very dangerous if you only improve your defense and damage because:

Imagine that you have attack 6d6, defense 4d6 and damage 5d3, you are good but not wonderful, i could kick your ass easily because you will not hit me and I will hit you

now imagine you are attack 3d6 defense 8d6 and damage 5d3, and with rafale psychique...first i could not touch you because you have 8d6, and, if I hit you, you are a durakuir so you have strengh health and the "regeneration accrue". and with rafale psy, you always hit me!!!

so it s my mind...You need to choose between a durakuir and a fucking bad ass durakuir

but i also understand that my way is fine only when you are a high level...and i have also a great way for the kasatr like me, but i discover it too late . So i am just a pretty cool kastar, that s it...nothing more...

you said also :Btw I must say your English is good!

thanks but what is the meaning of btw???Now i ask that my english is worse...

So: first improvement of esquive (defence), next boosting the PV, followed by upgrading 'dégat' (damage), and all along I should make as much use a possible of rafale psychique as well as regeneration accrue. That's quite an operation schedule! :-) But it all seems very logical, if i stick to it I think my Troll 'll become a big mean green fighting machine Now if just these monsters would co-operate a bit, my troll would be up to speed in no time. But on the other hand, they're monsters, they're supposed to mean trouble... The mommie that's my target seems to think so nevertheless, messing up my dégat with some kind of spell! But in the end, it's only fair, because eventually he'll get me some PX when he surrenders to some good old DURAKUIR POWER!

Jos, will be minding to use correct english and no more abbreviations

Ok, z'y va, j'en remet une couche...

Hi jos,
I'm BAM (BeteAMourir) from the Boustifailleurs guild...
And just after this I'm also a DurAKuir 12...

DURAKUIR POWER is our slogan now

I'll tell you about 2 general ways about playing with DurAKuir, and I don't think there's one better than the other.

1) The DurAKuir Sorcerer, using his special power "Rafale psy". These players think that it's real powerfull spell because you don't have to hit the target, it's automatic. But with it, you need to gain a lot in MM and RM (Mastery of Magic and Magic Resistance) in order to have it effective. In fact, it's really powerfull but don't make a lot of damages

2) The DurAKuir Fighter, that isn't really using the "rafale" just as another way not very efficient, using classic Attack-damages, at better level with Crushing Blow (coup de buttoir) for example. These ones are sometimes better "big" fighters, but must use a lot of PI rising their attack level two

But, instead you find your way, and after having learned the lightning-move also called Crab-move (Deplacement eclair) due to a specific and graceful balancing move on the side there is a standard way to mount your specific fast regeneration power.
First you need to take punches to be damaged and be able to regenerate. After that you will have raisen it to a big level (80 or more %) of successful chances, you'll start to buy "esquive" (dodge) in order to avoid first critical hits, and after that, avoid most of them.
In the same time, you'll also need to raise your hit-points...

All this you'll say

Unfortunately, it's the case for us, that's why it's a little difficult for us to raise very fast, but after it makes us fabulous and powerfull fighting tanks !

If you need more, don't hesitate, I'm the 709 troll, or see in the guild section the Boustifailleurs...

Have a lot of fun here Jos

BAM (happy to see where we are expanding this game...)
Bear All Martyrised.... by some evil evil veil monsters...
